Why Couples Choose to Elope in Tennessee

Tennessee is one of the most popular elopement destinations in the country, and for good reason. The Great Smoky Mountains are the most visited national park in America, the marriage license process is the simplest in the South, and the scenery — foothills, rivers, cabin country, and mountain overlooks — gives every elopement an unforgettable backdrop.

Couples come from all 50 states to elope in Tennessee because the experience is genuinely simple: no waiting period, no residency requirement, no blood test, and a same-day marriage license you can pick up the morning of your ceremony. Pair that with all-inclusive Tennessee elopement packages that handle photography, officiant, timing, and permits, and you have a wedding day that feels effortless from start to finish.

Elopement Packages for Two in Tennessee

Most of our couples elope just the two of them, and our Tennessee elopement packages are built with that in mind. There's no minimum guest count, no obligation to invite anyone, and no awkward "table for two" feeling on your wedding day. If you want it to be just you, your partner, your officiant, and your photographer in the middle of the Smokies — that's exactly what you'll get.

Couples who want to include parents, siblings, or a few close friends can do that too. Our packages accommodate up to 50 guests at no additional cost.

How to Elope in Tennessee — Step by Step

1. Choose your Tennessee elopement package

Pick the option that fits your vision and budget. Most of our couples book the Photography Elopement at $1,395, but the $995 Simple Ceremony covers couples who want only the essentials.

 2. Pick your date and location

We'll help you choose the best Tennessee location for your vibe, season, and weather. Fall foliage and spring blooms book 3–6 months out; off-season dates have more availability.

 3. Get your Tennessee marriage license

Pick it up at any Tennessee county clerk's office with photo ID. There's no waiting period — you can elope the same day. The license is valid for 30 days and good for a ceremony anywhere in the state.

 4. Show up and get married

We handle the rest. Your officiant, photographer, permits, timing, and location are all coordinated. All you do is arrive, exchange vows, and start your marriage.

Tennessee Elopement FAQs

  • Our all-inclusive Tennessee elopement packages start at $995 for the Simple Ceremony and $1,395 for the Photography Elopement. Most couples spend between $1,395 and $3,000 total, including the marriage license fee. That's roughly 1/10 the cost of an average Tennessee wedding.

  • Yes — most National Park locations require a special-use permit for wedding ceremonies. We handle the permit application and coordination for you. Permits are included in every package.

  • Fall (mid-October to early November) is the most photogenic with peak foliage. Spring (April–May) brings wildflowers and dogwoods. Summer is lush and green but warmer and busier. Winter is quieter, the mountains are gorgeous, and prices are at their best.

  • Tennessee weather changes fast — afternoon showers in the Smokies are common and usually short. We adjust timelines, use clear umbrellas, or move to covered locations like your cabin's porch. After 1,000+ elopements, every single ceremony has happened. Moody weather often produces the most stunning photos.

  • Fall and spring book 6-9 months ahead. Summer and winter dates are often available with 30–90 days notice. Once you have a date in mind, check availability — we may have it.

  • Yes — Some packages accommodate up to 50 guests at no additional cost. Whether it's just the two of you or your closest family, we'll make it work.
